  Hot topic in congregations: having a beard/goatee

  i am starting this topic because i was wondering, i see many who leave "the truth" are glad because they can finally have a beard.

  is having a beard really a no go in congregations?

  how is / was it in your congregation?.

  Official policy is a brother cannot have privileges if they have a beard. some congregations might be lax and some exceptions are made but it's rare. I have seen that in NYC black brothers could have a soul patch but that's it.

  fun facial hair fact: Go through all WT publications since 1980 or so (since they started using photos and not paintings). Try to find a white dude with ANY facial hair. You won't. You will find plenty of black and hispanics with mustaches but never a white guy. So if you're one of those JWs that uses those pictures as examples of proper dress and grooming, you're supposed to pick up on the fact the society doesn't want white dudes with facial hair.

  Pioneers and New Releases!

  i forgot about thus until yesterday.. at the coming dc/ic this summer, pioneers are not allowed to get hard copies of new publacations!

  elder & ms, and anyone else that wants one, can!.

  I know a kid who graduated from there. They basically rush you through the minimum required to get a HS diploma so you can pioneer at age 16 or whatever. It's so easy. He told me liked it because he didn't have to take hard courses like algebra (which is easy but whatever).

  Congrats on being uneducated I guess. Enjoy working for your dad the rest of your life.

  That was a seriously good read. I wish every JW could read it but they won't. Maybe someone better versed in law could answer this for me, though. In the article, it said that Losch was given a subpoena but he straight up refused to appear in court. I thought a person could be held in contempt and fined/put in jail. Is this different for civil cases?

  They claim to obey the law unless it conflicts with God's law in the Bible. How does appearing before court or handing over documents conflict with the bible? answer: it doesn't

  it's possible it was put up on accident. someone may have pressed the button too early or some automated thing didn't work right. it happens with websites. not everything is some bizarre conspiracy

  several times previously he claimed to be a certified genius, having supposedly passed the mensa test.... .

  me: so what do you think about jws condoning the idea that dinosaurs could have lived with humans?.

  lol unconditional. In the past two years I've gone to maybe 5 meetings and half a convention. I don't hear from ANYONE that I would still consider a friend. This is despite the fact they all know where I live and I've had the same phone number for 10 years. Not a word from them. If I do see them, it's always the same deal: a hug and 'I've missed you.'

  
  

  I always reply with, "well you know how to contact me. Why didn't you?"

  
  

  That shuts them up pretty quick and ends the conversation.
